Every quarter, I sit down with the same stack of purchase requisitions. I can only speak to our situation: a mid-size contract electronics manufacturer with a stable quality lab. If you're a startup with one instrument and a supplier you personally trust, the calculus might be different. But the habit of verifying before buying is universal.

The next time you approve a purchase order, ask one extra question: "What will this equipment actually cost me before it produces its first valid measurement?" That question will catch more budget leaks than any discount negotiation.
